Global Game Jam is the world’s largest team game jam event, and takes place across 600+ locations simultaneously. My role was to develop the overall brand and visual identity of the local Vancouver jam, hosted at the University of British Columbia. This meant closely working with the event’s organizers to capture the spirit and communal values that make it such an exciting weekend, translating them into a fresh, creative and scale-able identity system.
Process and Iteration
This project posed some unique design challenges, chiefly around the need to work alongside a larger, global event brand, while still feeling one of a kind. The hosting city and UBC venue were also major considerations throughout the design process, leveraging from Vancouver’s stunning skyline and combining it with the digital aspects of game development.
